Seminyak Bali.

Seminyak.

It’s been a few weeks since we arrived back from Bali and I must say writing this post has been an intimidating prospect. From months of planning before the trip, to keeping detailed accounts during the trip, it seems an impossible task to minimize three of the best weeks into a single blog post. I am going to do my best to include the most relevant information, inspire you to travel to Bali and most importantly not overload you with too much reading.

We arrived in Bali on the 17th December, 11pm in the evening after two 9 hour flights. We were greeted by two of our closest friends who arrived shortly before us. Half an hour drive later and we were in our Hotel in Seminyak having a swim to celebrate the start of our adventure.

Anggie Boutique Hotel is run by staff who will go the extra mile at every opportunity. By organizing our very late taxi pick up to calling a bike rental company on our behalf, we were stress free and taken care of.

With that being said we spent our first day exploring Seminyak on scooters, strolling through boutique and restaurant laden streets and taking a walk on Petitenget beach. The beach was very disappointing and not a reflection on the many photos I had seen online. I am not sure if this was season related as the dirty sands and rubbish left a bad taste in my mouth.

The only way to wash that bad taste away was with our first local meal. We stumbled past a little restaurant called Gapet and made ourselves comfortable. Nasi Goreng (Balinese fried rice) and an iced coffee was just what I needed to restore all my excitement for what lay ahead. They claim to serve the coldest beer in Bali which I admit was feezing cold and at Rp60,000 for three small Bintangs who could resist?

The evenings ended up wherever the road took us. A night market eating “Martabek”  to a little restaurant listening to live music as the rain poured down. The world was our oyster and a poncho our best friend.
